Today, our world is filled with chaos! With the new epidemic in town, people are finding it difficult to maintain the soundness of mind. Therefore, it becomes critical for people to maintain a healthy and positive mindset.
As it is said, “The tough times don’t last but the tough people do!”
Hence, we have to make sure we make ourselves mentally strong. With a strong mindset, we can turn difficulty into an opportunity. Humans have survived much worst scenarios and situations!
Before we start endavouring diffrent positions and postures of Yoga, let us understand some key factors of Yoga.
As many of us might not know, Yoga means union!
However, the question is; “The union of what or whom?”
The answer to this question is, “Union with ourselves!”
You may ask, why do we need to unite with ourselves? Aren’t we already united?
Yes, most of us are not! Amazed?
Let me elaborate this, for a better understanding.
I am sure you all must have heard about the following terms in your daily life:
Yes? Let us have a better understanding of these topics.
It is said that when we are awake, i.e not sleeping, we are in a conscious state!
When we lose our senses we are unconscious!
And, when we are neither awake nor sleeping, we are in a subconscious state of mind!
However, this is not the exact truth! Let us understand these above-mentioned conditions.
We, humans, are a pre-programmed species and we can be easily reprogrammed. It is not a hypothetical claim, it is a fact!
We humans are pre-programmed to eat, drink water, inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide, smell, taste and view things. There are several other elementary pre-programmed cycles that we follow.
Then there are things that we program ourself to do! Like going to the office, read, learn, obey, stay fit and endless other processes that we program ourself to do. We do this either consciously or subconsciously.
But, most of our habits that we adapt are due to our subconscious behaviour.
More than 90% of the time during the day we are not conscious of our behaviour. Hence, 90 % of the time we are performing our actions subconsciously. In other words, our pre-programmed body is making survival decisions for us.
For example: When we perform certain tasks repeatedly, our muscles get trained to perform those task. We can perform these tasks without being consciously involved. Most of us feel proud of this habit, and call ourselves a professional in the task.
However, this is a small example, where our subconscious is working for us! This is also known as muscle memory.
Most of us regret the decisions we made in our life!
Most of those decisions are made by our subconscious mind. Our body and mind make those decisions for us according to the general set of rules provided to our body during the pre-programming. Hence, we can say that we were not in control of those decisions.
Our human body is a highly advance machine! It is complex and has millions of features. It also comes with an autopilot feature. Hence, either we can stay in control, stay conscious! Or we can leave the control on autopilot. Leaving control on autopilot is like relaxing, and leaving the plane to fly on luck!
How to stay conscious?
There are several ways, by which we can keep ourselves conscious. Some of them are widely used. These provide instant effects, for example, coffee, tea, tobacco and consumption of certain drugs, like psychedelic drug materials. Psychedelic drug materials are commonly used by many people these days to attain a certain level of spirituality and consciousness.
You can experience a short term “High” with these products. However, it will not last forever. It can cause severe damage to your body and mind, if not taken with precaution. You must have a certain knowledge of their effects and expertise.
As it is said, “There are no shortcuts in life”, similarly, there are no shortcuts in uniting your body and brain forever.
Therefore, so far the only trusted and proven method known to humanity from centuries is the art of yoga!
योगस्थ: कुरु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा धनञ्जय |
सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्यो: समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते || 48||
Meaning: Be committed in the act of your duty, O Arjun, disown fondness to success and failure. Such a presence of mind is called Yog.yoga-sthaḥ kuru karmāṇi saṅgaṁ tyaktvā dhanañjaya

Its trusted and proven method might take time but has a definite high success rate!
You don’t agree with me?
I am sure, you can’t disagree with them!
Firstly, let us understand the types of Yoga, as there are many purposes one can adapt to this art.
Janana Yoga: The Yoga is performed to achieve a higher state of mind and to gain knowledge beyond books and our senses.
This Yog consist of meditation practices and pranayama like Shavasana.
Regarding this Janna Yog Swami Vivekananda stated: “The realization of a mans own divinity through knowledge”blog.sivanaspirit
Karma Yoga: Everyone of you must be familiar with the fancy word “KARMA”. Everyone is shouting, and cursing the word these days!
Most of them don’t have the tiniest idea of “What is karma?” All they do is fear of Karma! Yes, you should fear the “Karma”. If you perform bad deeds/actions in your life!
It is really simple to understand “Karma”. One of the scientists has already given a theory on “Karma”? Any guesses? No?
Let me tell you! It was the great scientist Sir Isaac Newton. In his third-law of motion, Newton somewhat defined “Karma”.
According to the Third-Law Of Motion: “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.”Third-Law Of Motion.
However, Karma states, “For all of your action there is a reaction to it!”
Therefore, the kind of life you choose to live, you receive a similar kind of reaction from society.
Hence, Karma Yoga teaches us the way of life with which we can stay in harmony with our nature and surroundings.
बुद्धियुक्तो जहातीह उभे सुकृतदुष्कृते |
तस्माद्योगाय युज्यस्व योग: कर्मसु कौशलम् || 50||
